Let us begin the new year with new creations !!!

Theme: Echoes of Impact: Art for Awareness and Change

Participants are invited to create artworks that highlight pressing social issues, emphasizing the consequences of human actions while proposing sustainable solutions. Through aesthetics and interpretation, let the artwork be a catalyst for collective action, awareness and global change.

What to do?


  • 1. Identify an Issue: Select a pressing social issue and relate it to SDG(s)*.
  • 2. Research and Analyze: Choose a renowned artist’s work that resonates with the theme. Analyze their approach and message.
  • 3. Create an Artwork: Develop an original piece that draws inspiration from the chosen artist’s work, addressing the selected issue with a proposed solution.
  • 4. Reflect on Your Work: Analyze your own creation, highlighting its connection to the theme and its potential for impact.

Objectives:


With an aim to educate both participants and audience about the Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing the role of Art in addressing global challenges, the competition has been organized to :


  • 1. Foster critical thinking and analytical skills in the context of art.
  • 2. Promote artistic appreciation.
  • 3. Encourage a deeper understanding of art history and various artistic styles.
  • 4. Provide a platform for artists and art enthusiasts to showcase their knowledge.
  • 5. Motivate future citizens to propose actionable solutions and inspire the audience.

Submission Requirement:


  • Create a PowerPoint presentation with:

  • 1. Description: Explain the issue, its relevance and its relation to the SDG.
  • 2. Chosen Artwork: Provide the name of the renowned artist and a brief analysis of their work.
  • 3. Creation Process: Submit 4-5 process photos along with the final artwork.
  • 4. Analysis: Reflect on your artwork’s purpose, connection to the theme, potential impact and include a connection to the chosen SDG.
  • 5. Format: Present submissions in a PDF file (maximum size 50 MB).

Prizes


  • 1. Category Winners: Trophies, eCertificates, and mentorship opportunities.
  • 2. Special Mentions: Featured on Art Journal Foundation’s platforms.
  • 3. Participation Certificates: eCertificates for all participants meeting submission criteria.

Guidelines:


1. Eligibility: Open to all art enthusiasts, students, and artists in the following categories

  • • Category A: Grades 9 and 10
  • • Category B: Grades 11 and 12
  • • Category C: College students (Maximum age 24 years)

2. Choice of Artwork for Analysis: Students must select world-renowned artists' artwork for analysis.

3. Fee: There is NO registration fee for this Award competition.

4. Format: Entries must be in the form of a PDF document (PPT must be converted to PDF). The maximum file size must be 50 MB. The pictures included in the ppt must be clear and any resources used must be acknowledged. The suggested font size is 12 and the font is Arial.

5. File Name: Name the file with your name and category for clear identification. For example: Nameofthestudent_CategoryName.pdf

6. Artwork Specifications: The artwork created can be of any size using any medium.

7. Original Work: Plagiarism will result in disqualification.

8. Each participant can submit only one entry.

9. Judging: Entries will be evaluated by a panel of art experts, and the decision of the judges shall be final and binding.

10. Prizes: Winners of each category will be awarded Trophy and there will be eCertificates for all participants.

11. Winners Announcement: Winners will be announced on 20th April, 2025.

12. Display of Artwork: By registering for this Award competition, the participants give a consent to Art Journal Foundation to display their work on Art Journal Foundation website and social media.

Criteria for Judgment:



  • 1. Description of the Issue and Analysis of Artist Artwork (20%)
  • • Clarity in identifying a pressing issue and relating it to the theme and SDG(s).
  • • Depth of analysis in connecting the chosen artist’s work to the issue.

  • 2. Creation of Own Artwork (60%)
  • Relevance to Theme:
    • • How well does the artwork address a social issue?
    • • Does the artwork effectively communicate the complexity of the issue and suggest bringing awareness/ change?
  • Creativity and Originality:
    • • Does the artwork present a unique perspective?
    • • How creatively does the artist interpret and communicate the theme "Echoes of Impact: Art for Awareness and Change"?
  • Artistic Skill and Techniques:
    • • Technical proficiency demonstrated in the artwork.
    • • Inclusion of elements such as composition, color usage, form, and overall craftsmanship.
  • Impact and Emotional Resonance:
    • • Does the artwork evoke empathy, awareness, or provoke thought about the issue?
  • 3. Analysis of Own Artwork (20%):
    • • Thoughtfulness in reflecting on the creative process.
    • • Connection of the artwork to the theme and its potential for impact.

Analyzing an artwork would include description, interpretation and judgment of artwork. The agenda of analysis of artwork is to determine why and how the artpiece is significant.


The inclusion of following few points (not limited to these) will support analysis:

Elements of Arts, Principles of Design, Composition sense, Mood of artwork, Purpose, Impact of the artwork

  1. What is the theme for the competition?

    This year’s theme is “Echoes of Impact: Art for Awareness and Change”.

  2. Can I submit an artwork which was created before the competition?

    The artwork must not have been used for any other submissions/ exhibited elsewhere and must align to the requirements of the competition.

  3. How should I submit my artwork?

    You will receive a submission link on your registered mail ID.

  4. How many entries can I submit?

    You can submit ONLY one entry.

  5. How many winners will there be?

    There will be one winner from each category.

  6. Will I be able to see the artwork of other participants?

    The artwork of the winners will be posted on the Art Journal Foundation website.

  7. Do I have to pay to enter the competition?

    There is NO registration fee for the competition.

  8. What is the word limit for artwork Analysis?

    There is no word limit for artwork analysis.

  9. IS AI research allowed?

    No, the artwork must be the original creation of the student. Content created by or including elements created by AI or any image generating software is not allowed.

  10. Will I get any certificate for participation?

    eCertificate will be awarded to all participants who have completed the requirements of the competition.

  11. When does the competition begin?

    The starting date for competition is 20th January, 2025.

  12. When does the competition end?

    The competition ends on 20th March, 2025, which is the last date of submission of entries. No extension shall be given.

  13. When will the results be announced?

    The results shall be announced on AJF website and social media on 20th April, 2025.

  14. How will my work be judged?

    The artwork shall be judged as per the criteria provided in the competition details by a panel of expert and experienced judges.

  15. What are the requirements for file size?

    The maximum file size must be 50 MB.

  16. How will I know if I win?

    Winners will be informed through email (on the registered email ID), and you can check AJF social media pages for announcements too.
